SLC ITEMS & REMINDERS

SLC REGISTRATION

We will utilize the state registration system thru Level 8 for SLC including presubmits.  This is the same system you used to register for Regions.  Registration, housing, presubmits and candidate info are all due on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

WSAP

Please make certain that you are using the latest version of the WSAP dated November 6, 2023 - if you downloaded immediately in September you will probably want to discard and download this version.

ADVISOR GARMENT

We have not yet selected and secured an advisor garment but hope to have the visual and description to you next week.  If you have ordered but change your mind, we can delete from your invoice.

BILLING WITH HYATT

Please remember to cc me on the email when you return your excel billing form to the Hyatt.  The data will not be transferred to the Hyatt until registration is closed after February 15.

VOTING DELEGATES

Remember that each Region needs 10 voting delegates.  Region Chairs are collecting the names on behalf of the region, but each of you need to go into the students in your registration and check the box that they are a delegate or alternate.

OPENS/GENERALS

Competitors will have the option to take the opens in the same contest area (exhibit hall) at the same time as they would take paper pencil.  You have the option to indicate electronic when you register.

STATE OFFICER CANDIDATES

Candidates need to have all documents in their drop box provided by 11:59 pm on Feb. 15.  If your candidate needs a drop box and has not yet received one, please contact me.

TORCH AWARDS

It is up to each advisor to make certain that your students have met the point requirements for Torch.   On the state and national level, we do not have the option to send back for corrections and resubmit – they must be correct upon submission.

Please remember that although the Torch Resume is completed in another platform, this is not tied into our registration system so it is necessary for you to register your students in TORCH CONTEST as a contest Code 99 in our state registration system.

PHOTOS

There will not be a photo lab at state – t-shirts will be distributed at registration.  Please upload student photos in the system.  If you do not have access to school photos you are encouraged to reach out to perhaps your yearbook person!  YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GO IN AND ADD PHOTOS FOR AT LEAST A COUPLE OF WEEKS SO DON’T STRESS ABOUT IT!

STATE OFFICER TIE BLANKET PROJECT AT STATE

Message from State Officers:

We are excited to share details about our upcoming project to create tie blankets for young patients at Children's Minnesota. The goal is to bring comfort and joy through non-allergenic fleece blankets featuring vibrant colors and patterns. We're encouraging dimensions of 1.5 yards by 1.5 yards or 2.5 yards by 1.5 yards for versatility.  To add a special touch, consider bringing your fleece to our upcoming conference where, as a team, we'll fold the blankets together. This collaborative effort will not only streamline the process but also allow us to infuse the project with our collective enthusiasm.  This endeavor holds the promise of bringing both physical warmth and emotional comfort to children facing health challenges in the future. On behalf of the project team, I want to express my gratitude for your commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of these young warriors.  For any questions or additional information, feel free to reach out. Thank you for your forthcoming dedication to spreading kindness and joy
